Bayville NY Yellow Pages

Bayville is a village home in Oyster Bay located in Nassau County. Daniel Whitehead, an English farmer, purchased the land in 1658 from the Matinecock Indians. Bayville has been known by other names including Pine Island and Oak Neck. The future of Bayville was put to the test in the 60's and the early 70's when legislature in Albany was considering building a bridge from Bayville to Rye which would have left the area full of ramps and bridge supports. In 1973, with residents of the area as well as the support of Governor Nelson Rockefeller the plans for the bridge were forgotten. Bayville offer a quality school system with 9 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 4 private middle schools. Attractions that bring visitors as well as keep residents busy include the Bayville Scream Park which is very popular for the Halloween Season featuring Temple of Horror, Zombie Pirates, and more; Bayville Historical Museum; and the Bayville Adventure Park offering indoor rock climbing wall, bumper boats, and inflatable slides.
